Having inspected all of the new cylinder head castings available on the market, we have found most to be of inferior quality (poor castings, porous material, improperly machined cam journals etc.). We have chosen a manufacturer that uses a different material that is less prone to cracking and electrolysis (corrosion of the cooling system passages).
 
Even though we start with a NEW casting, it’s still not good enough, we improve it even further. First, we resurface the new head for a better gasket sealing surface. The exhaust seats are removed and upgraded to a harder powdered metal material. A three angle grind is performed to match the new intake and exhaust valves we install. The valve springs are individually tested, new valve stem seals are installed and valve stem height is checked.
 
CAMSHAFT: We regrind factory camshafts ONLY since they are made of superior material. We will NEVER USE THE NEW CHINESE import camshafts. We have had them inspected and have found the material used in the new cams from China are made of a material that is WAY TOO SOFT and will wear out extremely quick. We will not cut corners for price.
 
ROCKER ARMS: We have the factory rocker arms remanufactured ONLY. We have found the geometry and material of the Chinese import ‘new’ rockers to be VERY inferior. We also install NEW valve adjusting screws for the best reliability.
 
ROCKER SHAFTS: We use only NEW hardened and chromed rocker shafts that have a higher oiling capacity for better reliability and performance.
 
The 22R / 22RE is an extremely reliable engine, we build only quality cylinder heads and will NEVER cut corners just for price!
 
NEW CYLINDER HEAD WITH VALVES (no camshaft or rocker assembly):
  1.  New casting is surfaced to a mirror finish and then hand lapped
  2.  Exhaust valve seats are removed and harder powdered metal valve seats are installed
  3.  Seats (intake and exhaust) are 3 angle cut (30-45-60 degree cut)
  4.  New intake and exhaust valves are ground to match cut and hand lapped to insure proper sealing
  5.  New Viton valve stem seals are installed
  6.  individually tested and inspected valve springs are installed along with retainers and keepers
 
NEW CYLINDER HEAD WITH VALVES AND CAM (no rocker assembly):
  1.  New casting is surfaced to a mirror finish and hand lapped
  2.  Exhaust valve seats are removed and harder powdered metal valve seats are installed
  3.  Seats (intake and exhaust) are 3 angle cut (30-45-60 degree cut)
  4.  New intake and exhaust valves are ground to match cut and hand lapped to insure proper sealing
  5.  New Viton valve stem seals are installed
  6.  individually tested and inspected valve springs are installed
  7.  OEM reground camshaft is installed (reground performance grinds available)
 
NEW CYLINDER HEAD COMPLETE WITH VALVES, CAM AND ROCKER ASSEMBLY:
  1.  Exhaust valve seats are removed and harder powdered metal valve seats are installed
  2.  Seats (intake and exhaust) are 3 angle cut (30-45-60 degree cut)
  3.  New intake and exhaust valves are ground to match cut and hand lapped to insure proper sealing
  4.  New Viton valve stem seals are installed
  5.  individually tested and inspected valve springs are installed
  6.  OEM reground camshaft is installed (reground performance grinds available)
  7.  Rocker assembly is installed (remanufactured rocker arms, new higher oiling capacity rocker shafts)
  8.  New valve adjusting screws
 
  1.  New casting is surfaced to a mirror finish and hand lapped
  2.  Exhaust valve seats are removed and harder powdered metal valve seats are installed
  3.  Seats (intake and exhaust) are 3 angle cut (30-45-60 degree cut)
  4.  New Ferrea stainless steel intake and exhaust valves (UP TO 40MM INTAKE AND 48MM EXHAUST are available)
  5.  New Viton valve stem seals are installed
  6.  new high performance valve springs are installed (dual valve springs and titanium retainers available)
  7.  OEM reground performance camshaft is installed (lift and duration vary depending on your needs)
  8.   Rocker assembly is installed (remanufactured rocker arms, adjuster screws and new higher oiling capacity rocker shafts)
  9.  intake and exhaust porting and polishing / intake matching to your needs
