Located in Chico, California, Putney’s Custom Automotive Machine is a second generation family run business. Since 1991, our business has become well known and trusted in the Northern California racing and performance community.
Our business started by building high performance Datsun L-series and Toyota engines. Our engines have been used for all applications including circle track, auto-X, hill climb and drag racing. We have built hundreds of winning engines for our customers. Our reputation has expanded around the world. We have shipped engines throughout the United States. England, Sweden, Switzerland and Australia. We know it takes reliability to win and we build our engines accordingly. Our commitment to keeping our shop and education up to date, keeps us relevant.
We have built every type of engine from cast iron straight sixes to custom all aluminum, highly boosted, multi cam four cylinders. There is no such thing as too mild or too extreme. It’s your engine and your choice, that is why ‘custom’ is in our name.
